Dan McNamara was in high spirits following Wolves Women’s 2-0 victory against Rugby Borough at the SEAH Stadium.
Two second half goals from Charlotte Greengrass gave the Old Gold all three points and manager McNamara was delighted with the performance of his side ahead of a trip to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion in a Black Country derby next Sunday.
On getting three points
“I think off the back of last season, losing in the County Cup final, winning today was a motive.
“We’ve worked on duels this week and I thought the girls were absolutely phenomenal, tactically they got it spot on. I am delighted with the performance, and I thought we deserved it.
“I always say to represent this city in the right way, represent these working-class people that come and watch you and show true values as people, I thought they did that today.”
On Greengrass getting back on the scoresheet
“The goals aren’t how we judge Charlotte, it’s her all-round performance and what she brings to the team.
“I said the goals will come and there’s no better time than when we face Rugby Borough who are a top side.”
On a Black Country derby at the Hawthorns
“This result means nothing now unless we do the job against West Brom, we have to go there and perform.
“I always say, records are there to be broken. I’m focused on going there and getting three points against a difficult opposition, they won’t want to lose at their home ground.
“The girls are in a really good place, what they are producing on and off the pitch is remarkable and I am delighted to be steering the ship once more.”
