Anna Morphet is hoping Wolves Women can go on a run and put some points on the board in the upcoming schedule of games.
Recent postponements have meant the Old Gold haven’t played for two weeks, but Morphet believes there is a good opportunity with four successive home fixtures to build some momentum. However, Liverpool Feds stand in the way of Dan McNamara’s side on Sunday and defender Morphet says she is well aware of the season their opponents are having and the threat they will hold.
On the recent postponements
“When we prepare so hard for games and they’re cancelled it is a bit like there’s a loss of momentum, but it’s also given us time to work hard on the training ground, correct a few things and work on areas to improve.
“It’s been difficult from that point of view and I know the girls are desperate to play, but we’re really looking forward to the run of games coming up.”
On returning to action
“We’re looking at the league table and hoping to put points on the board. I think we’ve got the opportunity to do that now.
“The girls are really looking forward to it and I know myself personally, I can’t wait to get back out there.”
On last time out against West Brom and being back at Telford
“It was great from the club to allow us to play it there and get the game on, but then it was obviously restricted and not as many people could come and watch.
“It’s really great that we’re back at the New Bucks Head and hopefully we’ll get a lot of supporters through the gates.
“It’s going to be a really tough test against Liverpool Feds but hopefully a really good game.”
On Liverpool Feds
“They’re doing brilliantly. Whenever we play them it’s a really tough game and I think they’re a really close-knit team.
“It’s always a good physical game when we play them and it’s always been a difficult one, but we’re looking forward to that challenge.
“We’ve been working hard all week to prep for the game so I’m looking forward to Sunday.”
On the run of home games
“We always want to make sure that in our home games, we don’t concede goals or points. It’s going to be a really tough couple of games but it’s a chance for us to get some points back on the board and momentum in the league.
“Hopefully it can carry us through to a strong end of the season. We’ll focus on ourselves of course but when we’re playing against teams towards the top end of the table, like Newcastle and Forest, there’s that opportunity to make a difference and impact the league.
“That will definitely be a motivation behind us and at the end of the day, we want to be picking up three points no matter who we play.”
