Wolves Women have secured the addition of versatile attacking midfielder Lexie Harrison from local rivals Stourbridge.
A former England youth international, the 21-year-old links up with Dan McNamara’s side following almost 11 months with the Glassgirls.
Harrison crossed the Welsh boarder last December to put pen-to-paper with Stourbridge after a spell with TNS.
Prior to her time in the top tier of Welsh football, Harrison featured for Stockport County and was also with Stoke City and Crewe Alexandra as a youngster.
Her five goals helped Stour secure promotion to the third tier of women’s football for the first time last season, as Harrison became a Division One Midlands champion.
She has been a regular feature throughout 2023/24 so far and played the full 90 minutes when Stourbridge visited the New Bucks Head in September.
Manager Dan McNamara has admitted he has been a long-term admirer of Harrison and said: “Lexie is someone who has been on the radar for around 18 months. We’ve monitored her and she’s really impressed us, especially in last season’s County Cup final where I thought she was fantastic against us.
“We knew she was somebody who we wanted to work with in the future and we felt like now was the right time.
“We’ve seen what she’s done this season. She’s been utilised at right-back and has put in some really impressive performances, but we think we can potentially get some more positions out of her – that’s one of the reasons we’re attracted to her. Her versatility and the way she plays.
“She can play right-back, she can play in a more advanced role and she can do a job in central midfield.
“We’re really excited to add yet another up and coming great young player to go with what is already a group of really exciting young great players. I’m really pleased and looking forward to seeing how she develops.
“We’re hoping we can improve her, make her better and play a good part in her journey over the next few years.”
Harrison has been allocated the shirt number six and is eligible for this afternoon’s FA Cup tie against Stourbridge.
