Under-23s come from behind to beat City

Wolves under-23s came from behind to claim a confidence-boosting 2-1 victory at Manchester City.

Bruno Jordao and Meritan Shabani produced assured finishes either side of the break to earn Wolves their second Premier League 2 Division 1 victory of the season.

City enjoyed much of the ball in the first-half and took the lead when Alpha Dionkou’s cross was met by Morgan Rogers at the back post, with his header taking a deflection off Dion Sanderson on its way in.

Andreas Sondergaard impressed to keep Wolves in contention before Jordao capitalised on a goalkeeping mistake by the Dane’s opposite number on the stroke of half-time and slammed home his first goal in Wolves colours.

The equaliser came at a good time and it almost got better for Wolves on 56 minutes as Jordao fed Shabani, who watched his low strike turned around the post.

Not satisfied with their point, Wolves continued to press forward and seized their opportunity on 71 minutes.

John Kitolano cut through the City defence with a charging run and fed Oskar Buur, whose cross was left by Austin Samuels and met by Shabani to drive home the winner.
