Owen Hesketh has signed a contract extension at Wolves, penning a new two-year deal until the summer of 2025, with the club holding the option of a further year.
The 20-year-old midfielder joined Wolves as a first-year scholar in the summer of 2019 having previously been on the books of Manchester City, before signing his first professional contract with the old gold in October of the same year.
An international at youth level for Wales, Hesketh initially impressed for the under-18s and has gone on to establish himself in the under-21s set-up, winning the Academy Player of the Season award in 2021.
Hesketh has been a regular for James Collins’ side this year and scored a 20-minute hat-trick in the first half of January’s Premier League Cup victory at Sunderland.

His new contract has also been complimented by a first call-up to the Wales under-21 squad, with Hesketh playing the final eight minutes of Sunday’s international friendly win against Scotland.
Academy manager for football, Jon Hunter-Barrett, believes Hesketh deserves the recognition at both club and international level and said: “We’re very pleased that we’ve been able to do this for Owen. He’s a talented individual with exciting, attacking attributes to his style of play, which lends itself nicely to the team.
“I’ve been pleased with his performances so far this year. He’s had to get himself up to full fitness which he’s done now and he’s starting to impact the games.
“We’re really excited that he’s had his opportunity to get a call-up to Wales under-21s and I feel it’s all come at the right time for him.
“We want him to continue the trajectory and progression that he’s shown so far this season and shine in the under-21s.”
