Wolves 1 (Mane 24) Fulham 1 (Robinson 45+3)
Wolves were forced to settle for a draw at home to Fulham in their final Premier League outing at Molineux after an eight-year spell in the top flight.
Mateus Mane opened the scoring midway through the first half with a superb strike before the visitors were awarded a penalty during first-half stoppage time, which Antonee Robinson converted to equalise.
An uneventful second half followed, but Rob Edwards’ side did enough to hold on for a point and will travel to Burnley next week for the final day of the season, hoping a victory is enough to move them off the bottom of the table.
Molineux watched a slow opening period, with the first threat arriving at the Wolves goal. Timothy Castagne clipped an inviting cross towards the back post, where Alex Iwobi waited unmarked, but a good stop from Jose Sa prevented the volley finding the net.
Mane then fired a left-footed strike that stung the palms of Bernd Leno before Rodrigo Gomes raced past Robinson inside the box, only to see his low effort drift wide of the far post.
Following a strong spell from Wolves, the hosts found the breakthrough just shy of the half-hour mark. Hee Chan Hwang dug out Rodrigo Gomes’ cross from under his feet and laid the ball off to Mane on the edge of the area, whose clean and powerful strike flew past Leno at the near post.
Fulham wasted chances in response to going behind. Sander Berge headed over from a corner before Castagne fired high and wide from inside the box minutes later.
Chances dried up approaching the break, but Wolves’ hard work was undone when Thomas Kirk pointed to the spot following an on-field VAR review. Robinson stepped up and converted with virtually the last kick of the half.
Half-Time | Wolves 1-1 Fulham
Yerson Mosquera had the first chance after the restart when he rose highest to meet Mane’s corner, but the Colombian glanced his header wide.
Wolves continued to create chances, but the problem remained converting them. Adam Armstrong latched onto Hwang’s neat through ball to break free inside the area and, with a delicate dink, beat Leno, only to hit the near post.
Two substitutes registered attempts on goal in the final 10 minutes. Tolu Arokodare was presented a chance after a fortunate ricochet fell into his path, but he failed to connect properly and trouble Leno.
Moments later, Harry Wilson looked to inject life into Fulham’s attack when he opened up on the edge of the area and fired at goal, but Sa got down well to prevent any further danger.
Both sides pushed for the winner, but ultimately had to settle for a point in the penultimate game of the season as Wolves' Molineux campaign came to an end, ahead of a final day trip to Turf Moor next Sunday.
