The spirit within Wolves’ squad means falling a goal down doesn’t change the group’s mentality, says skipper Maximilian Kilman.
The captain played a key role in Wolves’ comeback victory at Stamford Bridge, which was inspired by a hat-trick from Matheus Cunha. Kilman says Cunha’s commitment is typical of the group, as Wolves bounced back from the defeat to Manchester United with a fine performance and result in West London.
On a memorable afternoon at Chelsea
“It was phenomenal. From start to finish, we showed a lot of quality and spirit in the squad, how we got the result. How we defended at the end shows what kind of team we are. Of course, bouncing back from the Thursday game, it’s a very good performance.”
On the continued belief in the group
“When we went a goal down, we continued our game, worked really hard, and the rewards were going to come. We just had to stick to our plan and not let going 1-0 down affect us.
“We showed character in our last game too. We were unfortunate not to get a result, but to come here and come with a great mentality and perform the way we did is credit to everyone.”
On the threat on the break
“The front three are unbelievable physically and on the ball fantastic, the quality in front of goal was phenomenal and they showed it. Scoring four goals at Stamford Bridge is a good result.”
On getting results away from Molineux
“Last season we only got two wins away from home and now we’re on five. We’ve just got to build and the belief within the squad has improved so much. The players are working so hard for each other, and you can see it on the pitch.
“Our first win since 1979 [at Stamford Bridge] – unbelievable. I saw it just before the game and to win is brilliant.”

On Cunha’s treble
“He deserves it. I didn’t notice until he had the match ball after that he had a hat-trick. Phenomenal, he worked his socks off today. He did a slide tackle late in the second half, which shows the commitment in the squad, not just him, but he deserved it.
“He’s been phenomenal these last couple of months, he’s kicked on even more, so credit to him and hopefully we can kick on and keep this phone going.”
