Kilman | 'It was a special, special day'

Maximilian Kilman was pleased Wolves were able to overcome a tough Black Country derby in the FA Cup fourth round and claim the club’s first win over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns in 28 years.

Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha found the net late on in either half, with the second goal prompting unsavoury scenes inside the stands which saw the game suspended for more than half an hour, but Kilman praised both players for their poise in front of goal as well as outlining how Wolves stayed composed to see out the victory and secure their name in the hat for the fifth round.

On winning the Black Country derby

“It was unbelievable. We haven’t won here in so many years, so it was a special, special day today.

“It was very tough. We knew before the game it would be a tough game, it’s of course a massive derby, but today we performed very well.”

On Neto and Cunha’s goals

“They were both really clinical finishes. When they had that chance, they tucked it away.

“So, credit to those boys and credit to everybody else because we worked really hard to get the two goals when we had the chances to win the game.”

On the game being temporarily suspended

“It’s not something you want to experience, but we, as players, have to adapt to whatever situation we’re in, and I felt we did that really well.

“We all had to stay together, stay warm and the message was just to make sure we are ready, so we can finish the game strong and come away with the victory.”

On being in the hat for the fifth round

“It’s looking good so far, but we’ve got some really tough games coming up and a really tough month in February, so we need to make sure we do our best and make sure we keep going.”
