Sarabia | 'Step by step we’re getting more intensity'

Pablo Sarabia was happy to get minutes into his legs during two training match victories during Wolves’ pre-season camp in Portugal.

Having started the games against Vitoria SC and SC Farense on the right side of the attack, which included setting up Matheus Cunha’s goal in the opening outing of pre-season, Sarabia is looking forward to his first full season in gold and black having taken time to adapt to the Premier League.

On Portugal training camp

“It’s been a very good pre-season. We worked very well on the pitch and in the training too. [The Farense match] was another training for us and it’s very important – as always – to win.

“But the most important thing is to work, and the team have been working on a lot of things that the coach tells us, and I’m very happy for all of that.”

On getting minutes into his legs

“It’s important because in each moment we want to improve in the physical moments in our legs.

“It’s very important that the other day [against Vitoria] we played 30 minutes and then 45 minutes [against Farense], some players a little more.

“But the most important to improve for the effort and for the strong legs. In the beginning it’s important to work the heavy legs and in each moment, step by step we’re getting more intensity within each training and each match.

“It’s important to adapt and prepare for the best moment in the Premier League.”

On pre-season strengthening relationships within the squad

“The relationship between us is important and this is a very good moment for us to bond because we pass a long time with the teammates, and I’m very happy to be here together.”

On preparing for a Premier League season

“It’s coming up very quickly, I know, and I’m focused already on the first match against Manchester United.

“We’re going to work a lot so we can think in the first moment, because that game is the most important for us now.”
