Hwang | Korean pre-season tour ‘means everything for me’

Hee Chan Hwang admits he cannot wait for the chance to show off his country to his Wolves teammates as the men’s first-team squad heads to South Korea for a pre-season tour next month.

The forward is one of the biggest footballing names back in Korea and beloved by supporters there, so when Wolves head out to the country for their latest pre-season tour on 21st July, Hwang knows he’s going to be the first port of call for his fellow players in finding out the best things to do during their fortnight in his homeland.

On returning home for pre-season

“This means everything for me. It’s very special and I’m very excited to be there and go back to my home country with my Wolves teammates.

“In Korea, there are many good things and many positive things. We have good food and very kind people, so I think my team, the players, the staff and the fans who will be going will have a very good time and will be very happy there.

“They can enjoy many things and I am so excited to go there.”

On what Wolves can expect in Korea

“I’ve told my teammates what the Korean fans are like because they love football, but they’ve already seen that at Molineux.

“We’ve had many Korean fans visit to our stadium, so when they go to Korea they can feel how lovely the Korean fans are and very crazy for football, for our team and for our club.

“I know they will give us a very positive energy and my teammates will get a very good energy from the Korean fans.”

On showing his Wolves teammates around

“There are too many things that I want to show them, but I haven’t thought about exactly where I will take them, so I need a bit of time to start to think exactly where we can visit.

“There are a few Korean delicacies that I would like them to try, but I’m unsure they will be able to try everything I want to because I don’t know if we will have the time.

“I will try to invite them to a few restaurants which I like, if I can, because we won’t have much free time, but I want to make sure they have good memories and experiences.”

On preparing for the 2023/24 season

“I need to speak to the coaches and the managers also about when we’re going to have free time so I can arrange things around training and the matches because we’re not just going there just for fun, we want to use this time to have a good pre-season.

“Pre-season is a time when we have to focus on next season and for our condition, to make sure we are as good as we can be.

“We’re playing against two very good clubs in Celtic and Roma, so I think we will have a good pre-season and be as ready as possible for next season.”
