Nunes | On confidence in the camp improving

Matheus Nunes says the Wolves camp feels “more confident” under Julen Lopetegui and the draw at Fulham is another move in the right direction.

The Portuguese was involved in the old gold’s opening goal at Craven Cottage, with his cross leading to Pablo Sarabia’s strike against the Cottagers, during a first half which Wolves impressed in. Fulham came back to earn a point, but Nunes insists the signs are positive in the Wolves camp, with fresh faces helping turn their season around under Lopetegui.

On the confidence in the camp

“We try to work every day to improve the way we play, to get to know everyone else who arrived in the winter transfer window involved, to get to know them even more, to help them fit in and settle down. We’re more confident now and having better results, of course, and that helps as well. We just have to carry on.”

On deserving more

“I think so, especially from what we played in the first half when we had good chances to score and even from set pieces in the second half. I don’t remember them having many shots before they got the goal. I think we had chances to score more than them and it would have been very good if we left here with a victory.”

On things changing after the break

“In the second half we didn’t have the control like we did in the first half, but overall if you look at the match, it was a very balanced game. We controlled the game more in the first half and they did in the second half. It’s football, we tried to do our best.”

On Sarabia’s goal

“Of course, I know Pablo from Sporting, he’s a very close friend of mine and I hope he’ll score more goals.”

On moving in the right way

“For sure. A lot of things have improved since he [Lopetegui] arrived. Everybody can tell that and we’re going to try to get even better and get as high in the take by getting more points.”
