Cesar Peixoto was pleased with all aspects for his side’s performance against Stoke City, particularly that it came in front of a packed-out Molineux.
The Old Gold fought back from falling behind early and played some brilliant football in the second half, leading to a win 4-1 and capping an impressive eight days when Wolves won all three of their matches.
Everything pleased Peixoto – the response to falling behind, the creativity which made the goals and the commitment to defend their own box, as the group responded to his call to make Molineux a fortress this season.
On a positive performance
“I’m happy, not only because of the win, but because of the way we built the win. We played good, we conceded a goal and then reacted very strongly. We had a lot of personality and fought until the end for the three points. The boys did an amazing job.
“They believed in each other, believed in our ideas and our identity, and played in the way we want. We didn’t lose confidence after conceding, and that was a key point for us. We stayed together, played together, defended together and attacked together. We scored four goals and I think we could have scored more because the boys did an amazing, amazing job.
“For me, it’s not about individual performances. I’m always talking about the team, and today we saw one team, that’s the most important thing. It’s not only the result or the goals, we saw a team defending together, attacking together and playing for each other with and without the ball. For me as a coach, that’s amazing.”

On winning back at Molineux
“It was very important, and like that. After the conceded the goal, it was important to change the mentality of the team when we play at home, in front of our supporters. It’s important for us to make Molineux a fortress for us. The supporters today helped us to turn the result into a victory.
“We stayed together, the players, the staff and the supporters. That’s what I want in every game, not only today, but it’s only three points. We have to stay humble and keep working hard like we’ve been working. The next game after today is difficult but today congratulations to the guys because they did a great, great job.”
On all aspects of the performance
“The players interpreted the strategy for the game in the right way. They understood what they had to do in terms of defensive organisation and offensive organisation. They understood the right spaces to attack. I think the players did what we worked on during the week.
“For me, that’s very good because the team stayed compact for the full 90 minutes and kept trying to score more goals throughout the game. We didn’t drop back and just wait for the time to pass. We kept trying to play, trying to win and trying to score more goals. Today we’re happy, but again, we have to keep our feet on the ground because it’s only three points.”

On building momentum
“Firstly, we have to recover because we don’t have much time before the next game. We’ll try to recover as quickly as possible and build a team that’s competitive again. It’s a difficult away game, but we’ll go there trying to win, like we do every time.”
