Wolves to face Forest in Carabao Cup quarter-final

Julen Lopetegui’s men will travel to fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals of the 2022/23 Carabao Cup – the first time Wolves have reached the last eight in almost 30 years.

The draw was made on Thursday evening following the fourth round fixture between Manchester City and Liverpool, and paired Wolves against the team from the East Midlands for a repeat of last season's second round tie, in which the side in gold and black won 4-0.

Wolves made it into their first quarter-final of the competition since the 1995/96 season following Tuesday night’s 2-0 victory over League Two outfit Gillingham at Molineux, while Forest reached this stage of the cup by taking down Championship high-fliers Blackburn Rovers on the road.

The sides will now go head-to-head for a place in the semi-finals during the week commencing 9th January, meaning the fixture will take place between Wolves' FA Cup visit to Anfield to face Liverpool and the Premier League meeting with West Ham United at Molineux.

Lopetegui got off to a winning start as Wolves boss with the win against Gillingham and the Spaniard will be hoping to go all the way in a competition which the old gold have won just twice before, in 1974 and 1980.

Date and ticket information for the fixture at the City Ground will be confirmed in due course.
