Vinagre’s Wolves exit becomes permanent

Ruben Vinagre has joined Sporting CP on a permanent basis having spent the 2021/22 season with the Primeira Liga club.

Vinagre joined Sporting on loan from Wolves in July 2021, with the Lisbon-based side triggering an option to buy the defender ahead of the new campaign.

The Portuguese initially moved to Molineux in 2017 and made nine appearances in Wolves’ Championship-winning season. He signed permanently the following summer as the club returned to the top-flight of English football and earned a place in the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League, with the wing-back scoring twice in the competition.

Since then, the 23-year-old has spent time away from the West Midlands on loan, joining Greek champions Olympiacos for six months, before returning to his homeland with Famalicao. Vinagre then undertook a season-long loan at Sporting which saw him feature 18 times across league, cup and European competition.

Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Ruben for his efforts in gold and black and wish him well for the future.
