Neto on his and Traore's impact off the bench

Pedro Neto was delighted Wolves could benefit from his and Adama Traore’s impact off the bench, which helped turn the tide at the London Stadium.

Wolves dominated the ball but struggled to break down West Ham United on Saturday, before Nuno Espirito Santo turned to the pair of speedsters on his bench. Traore duly set up Raul Jimenez’s opener and Neto smashed in the second, as Wolves returned to Premier League football with a bang in the capital.

On his and Adama’s impact off the bench

“They said [the staff] to run, because me and Adama are fast players. Like the manager said, we get results. When we get in, me and Adama, we’re focused on our runs. The first goal with the run of Adama and the second one with the cross of ‘Doc’ and I was happy to score – it was a very good job.”

On being back scoring

“It’s the best feeling in football. I missed it a lot and I think it’s the most important thing in football, so when I score I feel happy, I feel that I have done my job, so I’m looking forward to the next one to score another.”

On wining on the return

“It is an unbelievable feeling to come back and have this result. After three difficult months, we came back and we won. I’m happy that I scored a goal, but we are already focused on the next one to win.”

On Nuno post-match

“He was happy, of course, because his options [substitutions] worked well – we scored and he’s happy, of course, because we won.”

On playing without fans

“It’s difficult because the most important thing in football is the fans, they give us the joy to play. We like to play for them, so it’s difficult, of course. We are already with the mindset that we will play without them and are focused on the games.”

On feeling fit

“The work that we did when we were stopped helped us during lockdown. The team showed that we are fit, and we are already focused on the next one to win.”
