Nuno's Campana hopes

Nuno Espirito Santo believes Leonardo Campana has space to improve and become an option to the Wolves first-team.

The Ecuadorian international signed for Wolves during the January transfer window and first checked in for Wolves training this week. Like with all of his squad, Nuno is keen for his new signing to progress within his philosophy and step into his squad in the future.

On Leonardo Campana

“He arrived and has been training with us. He finished his participation with his national team. I think he’s adapting since the first day I saw him.

“It’s about progress, about improving, and transforming into a good option for us. He’s working well. He’s a good player and I think he’s a good option.

“He’s a good back up to have and a player that we want to improve and make better. This is our philosophy, try to bring players that where we still believe there is space for improvement.”

On Ruben Vinagre’s recovery

“He had a scan on Thursday, he’s improving, he’s getting better. But he’s still a couple of weeks to be back on the training ground.”

On the back up of under-23s

“All the players from the under-23s we decide different ways (staying or going out on loan), some stay and help us. It’s not only about the minutes in the competition, it’s also during the process of training sessions, the preparation of the team and the preparation of the squad.

“The under-23s are really important for us and our philosophy. All the players in the squad we consider different options, what is better for the future of the player.”

On the building process

“It’s not about closing the gap, it’s about your own building process. It’s where you were, how you do things, how you want to keep on growing and improving. It’s not about closing gaps, we have to compete in a very tough Premier League, against all the opponents that are so good.

“We compete to become better and we have to be better because the game is changing, it’s going to be a very tough second half of the season.

“Looking back a couple of years and seeing that you still keep on growing, keep on improving and hopefully that can continue. After we’ll see where we are and how we prepare to face a new challenge, that’s the philosophy.”
