Jimenez revels in 'amazing' victory over City

Raul Jimenez praised the ‘amazing’ support of the Wolves following as his two assists helped his side to victory over Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

The Mexican striker, who has played in all but one of Wolves’ 17 fixtures so far this season, is now looking forwards to having a break during an international period for the first time in more than two years after a predetermined rest from his country’s CONCACAF Nations League matches against Bermuda and Panama to allow for some much-needed recovery.

On three points against Man City

“It feels amazing, coming here to Manchester; this stadium, this club, and having a win. We are surprised, but we knew that we had a good team to do these kinds of things.

“First, everyone was doing what we know to do, everyone was doing the things that last season made us be in the top part of the league, so it’s very good.

“I’m very happy, very proud of my teammates, because it’s not easy to come here and draw, it’s even more difficult to win, but we did it and we are very happy.”

On two tough away fixtures in four days

“We’ve had a lot of matches. Every week we are playing Wednesday/Thursday and Saturday/Sunday, so it’s difficult for us.

“But we know that if we train well, if we do our recovery well, we can play any game at any time, because we are a very good team and proud of what we did today.”

On having an international break

“We have well-deserved this break after this win, and I think that we have a few days free.

“We will enjoy this week because we have to continue with this and in two weeks we have another good game that we have to give our best in to make sure this win counts.”

On the support of the Wolves fans

“It’s amazing. All the supporters that are with us in every game; at home, at Turkey, now here in Manchester – it’s amazing.

“They are supporting us every time, every minute of the game, so this win is for them too.”
