Hause to make permanent move to Villa

Kortney Hause is set to depart Wolves after Aston Villa triggered an option in his loan agreement which will see the defender make his move to Villa Park permanent this summer.

The 23-year-old initially joined Villa on loan in January, making 12 appearances in the Championship during the second half of a 2018/19 campaign in which Dean Smith’s side were promoted to the Premier League.

Playing at both left-back and centre-back in claret and blue, Hause played a key role in the Villa defence which went on a resurgent run late in the season to clinch promotion via the play-offs. He scored his one and only goal during his loan spell in a 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest in March.

Prior to joining Villa, the former England under-21 international spent five years at Molineux after moving from Wycombe Wanderers in January 2014.

He appeared more than 80 times in all competitions in the gold and black, with almost 70 of those matches coming in the Championship. Hause scored two goals while at Wolves, both coming in the 2016/17 campaign where he played an important role in the Wolves defence.

Hause’s most recent appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side came in last season’s Carabao Cup where he was part of a backline which kept two clean sheets in as many matches; a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the second round and a penalty shoot-out defeat to Leicester City.

Sporting director Kevin Thelwell said: “On behalf of everyone at Wolves I would like to thank Kortney for all of his efforts both on and off the pitch during the past five years.

“Kortney has been a tremendous servant to this club, providing a solid backbone to our defence in the Championship where he helped lay the foundations for Wolves’ rise to where we are today.

“We wish Kortney the very best in all his future endeavours.”
