The club’s Player of the Season, as voted by supporters, spoke after receiving his prize at the End of Season Awards dinner last week and is already looking forward to next year’s challenge. An influential leader on and off the pitch, Moutinho also spoke of passing on his experience in what is a thrilling project to be a part of for the Euro 2016 winner.
On the club’s ambitions
“Now we need to rest, and I think we need to think bigger, to dream bigger. That’s what we want, the club wants to be better. That’s what I want, all my team mates want, to be better and do all we can to win something. This year was very good, but we try to better next year.”
On the decision to sign
“I was told it was a big project when they contacted me, and I accepted because it’s a club who wants to be better and bigger. I like this challenge, to help a club to be better and that’s what I came here to do, to help the team, to help the club, do what I can to make this club better.”
On his influence
“Yes, of course. I try to do my best in training, watching what my team mates are doing too, to learn with them. If they can learn from me, I’m here. I try to help where I can and that’s what I do every training session – to learn and to help others learn too.”
