Tuesday's loss can't happen again, says Nuno

Nuno Espirito Santo insists that Wolves must learn from Tuesday’s defeat at Huddersfield Town to ensure their mistakes are not repeated.

Wolves’ eight-match unbeaten run came to an end in West Yorkshire after Steve Mounie’s last-minute winner for the Terriers. Nuno’s side struggled to break down the Terriers and the contest looked destined to end goalless before Mounie’s tap-in, but Wolves’ head coach insists his players must learn from their errors.

On learning from loss

“We are very cautious that what happened today cannot happen again, we have to improve. There are many reasons and our job is to look for solutions for the next one.

“Consistency in football is very difficult. We have to try to the end. We came from a good run, today was not the best performance that we can have, but we have to bounce back Saturday.

“Every day is a challenge and a chance to improve. This is our spirit and our identity, tomorrow we recover and prepare for the next game. Competing well is the most important thing and we have to react. Nothing changes, we have a tough game at Molineux now.”

On breaking Huddersfield down

“In the first-half we weren’t able to play, we rushed our game too much. When we had possession it’s clear we could unbalance Huddersfield, but we didn’t too many times, we only had a couple of situations. We were not so clinical, had no shots on goals. We have nothing to complain about.

“Every time the play broke we allowed too much distance, so it’s harder, we have to play close to each other. We were trying to give energy and find other solutions. Sometimes things were OK, sometimes not so good, but the players tried. This is the most important thing.”

On same preparations every game

“You prepare well, do the same things, the motivation is there but sometimes things don’t work out, you lose a couple of passes and lack concentration, but it’s nothing to do with playing a small or big team. There’s no difference, we approach the same way.”

On crediting Huddersfield

“Huddersfield fought, each ball was important and I think our reaction to the loss of ball was not so good today. It was not one of the best performances. Credit to Huddersfield, they were organised and showed they are a good team.

“It’s the only moment (the goal) when we wanted to counter attack and lost the ball, and Huddersfield scored. Like I always say, until the referee says it’s over, and today it was the other way around.”
