Wolves were beaten by the Terriers at Molineux on a rare off day, but have turned around their fortunes remarkably since, with a slight tweak to formation. While adamant that defeat is too far in the past to use for analysis now, Nuno is pleased with how his side have improved from that home reverse to Tuesday’s opponents.
On the previous Huddersfield fixture
“It’s a game that was very far away, we don’t take that game as our analysis for tomorrow. Teams have changed, their manager has changed, and they are playing in a different way.
“I remember at that moment they were really aggressive and we were not able to play. Since then I think we’ve improved on our building, the way we try to go out, but it’s not a reference for tomorrow.
“The most relevant are the previous games and the previous performance. Then you can see the new ideas, the new movements, and you have to try and find solutions based on the last performance of Huddersfield, which is not so far away.”
On improving since then
“It was tough moments during the competition and during the season. We know this can happen, but we bounced back, we reacted. How we did it is by keeping our belief, the boys worked harder than ever to go out and since then the idea is to maintain the high standards and keep improving, looking for consistency in our performances.
“What is important is to realise the moment you’re at. At the same time, when you have bad moments you must react. When you are doing OK you have to keep on doing it. You cannot relax or have any complacency at all, you have to push yourselves even more.”
On a new-look Huddersfield
“Of course, it’s a tough job to try and remotivate a team, trying to know there’s still games to be played. We analyse and look at them, clearly there are new ideas, they are trying to improve. It’s a very competitive team, not in a good moment in terms of results, but you can see improvements there. We respect them and have to be alert and switched on.
“In the last game and the previous games, they were a very competitive team. You could see they are aggressive, they try to press, they try to play. Sometimes things don’t happen, but we know we don’t underestimate Huddersfield at all.
“What we know is it’s going to be a very tough game. We know Huddersfield is a good team in a bad moment. We respect that and know there are qualities there that are going to make our task very hard.”
