Nuno calls for consistency ahead of Cardiff clash

Nuno Espirito Santo is calling for consistent performances from his Wolves players as they aim to bounce back from a disappointing Huddersfield defeat at Cardiff City.

Wolves travel to south Wales without a win from their past five Premier League outings, but the head coach insists his team have been hard at work in an attempt to turn their fortunes around.

“We were very disappointed,” Nuno said. “There’s no doubt about it, it was a very bad performance from us. We’re tried to figure out why and now we’re going to work on what we can do to achieve what we want and perform better. Like I always say, the past is the past, I think even from bad moments you can learn.

“We need individual consistency. You can’t afford to have players up and down on their performance, it’s a basic aspect for us.

“Individually, each one of us has to look inside and see what aspects didn’t work out and bounce back. The moral cannot be doubted by a bad performance, we truly believe in what we do and how we do things, and we keep moving forward.

“What we thought at the beginning of the season is to go game by game. The table is not important, but we must improve on our performance and the results will come. The most important thing is how we react.”

Nuno will be hoping his Wolves players react immediately, live in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday night against Cardiff – in a match reminiscent of last season’s unforgettable tie between the two sides.

But after a well-documented clash between the Wolves boss and Cardiff’s Neil Warnock at the end of April’s fixture, Nuno is adamant the pair are now on friendly terms and the row is ‘totally over’.

“We had a chance to speak and clarified things, and now I can say we are good friends,” Nuno added. “It was a fantastic game last season, it was a very emotional game and we go again. Both teams know each other well and we expect a very tough game.

“It will be a match and when you compete both teams want the same, so let’s try to be better than them, but always with respect because we know it’s going to be a tough game.

“Last season and this season, the support has been amazing, and we are really thankful for that. We know they are going to be at Cardiff so let’s work hard and try to celebrate together.”
