Nuno Pleased With Afobe Addition

Nuno Espirito Santo is looking forward to seeing Benik Afobe in a Wolves shirt and said the striker’s attitude was key to his deadline day arrival.

With both parties keen to get a deal over the line, Afobe secured his return to Molineux late in the day on Wednesday, much to his manager’s delight.

He joins a squad which is the highest scoring in the division and will add further quality, according to Nuno.

“We always said it, first the squad, we’ve been very pleased with the squad since day one,” he explained. “Second, we always look at the market as an opportunity to bring in something we think can help us, which is the case with Benik.

“The most important thing is when two parts want to join together. He wanted to come, he said he’s happy here.

“Of course, he already knows the club, he made goals, he was happy here and knows the team mates he joins again.

“Everything will be easier but it will take time for him to get the idea of the team, work inside the team and put his talent to us. He’s a good option and I think he’ll be OK.”

The striker comes into contention for Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United – a club Wolves were beaten by back in September, but Nuno believes that defeat will have no relevance now.

“We don’t base the game on the last game we had together. We look at Sheffield United as a good team, a team that is tough and plays a system of 3-5-2.

“We have to be ready for it, but it has nothing to do with the last game, everybody knows what happened but it was a long time ago, change has happened on both teams.

“Tomorrow, what we really want and will have is a Molineux supporting the team and we want to give back what we could not achieve in the last game.”

Three former Wolves men could turn out for the Blades tomorrow, in Richard Stearman, Lee Evans and Leon Clarke, however the Wolves boss only concentrates on his side.

“I’m only worried about my players, the way we prepare, the way we approach the competition.

“Nothing can change now, the same hard work that took us from day one to achieve success must be the philosophy from now until the end.

“To win a game requires a lot of hard work and we’re ready to do it, football is like that, it’s global, you face former teams and former team mates.

“We’re going to face a team of Sheffield United, not ex Wolves players, and we’re ready to go and fight for what we want against them,” he added.
