4,700 away fans are making the trip to Oakwell for this weekend’s game and the Head Coach believes it is now up to the team to make the supporters proud by performing on the pitch.
Speaking ahead of the Barnsley clash, Nuno said: “It’s incredible support. I don’t get tired of thanking them because it will feel like we are at Molineux on Saturday.
“It’s now up to us to make them proud after travelling so many miles to be alongside the team.
“We will try our best, like we always do. Together, we are stronger.
“The game will be a challenge for us. The position that we are in makes all the teams work very hard and fight against us.
“But we don’t change our routines. We focus on ourselves and analyse the opponents. That’s how we work.
“All the words and opinions around us, I respect them, I am thankful for some of them but it doesn’t take my focus away and it doesn’t distract me.
“The squad, the game, the preparation for the matches is more important than anything that you read or hear.
It took a late goal from Alfred N’Diaye for Wolves to secure all three points in the return fixture at Molineux back in September.
“It was a tough game,” explained Nuno before adding: “I think it was fortunate that we were able to score in the end through Alfred’s goal. Those three points were important to us.
“Tomorrow is going to be a tough game. Paul is doing a good job, he is one of the managers that I think really works well.
“We will have to be ready for it and we are.”
Following Wolves’ busy Christmas schedule, the Head Coach made six changes for last weekend’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Swansea City, and explained that the January games were a good opportunity to utilise the full squad.
“We had a tough cycle over Christmas and I think we came through that really well,” he said.
“Then there was the cup and, like we decided from the beginning, it’s a different competition and it’s a good moment to use the full squad.
“Now we have another cycle again with three games in the space of a week, two in the league and one in the cup, and everybody will be necessary.
“I think it was a good week of work, preparing for the challenges that we have. First there is Barnsley, then we can consider and think about the rest.”
After 18 years with Wolves, Jack Price left the Club earlier this week to join MLS side Colorado Rapids.
And Nuno was full of praise for the midfielder, hailing his work ethic and commitment during the months that they worked together.
“Jack was with us from the beginning,” said the Head Coach. “Honestly, I respect him and I admire him because of the hard work he put in with the group every day.
“Moments where he was not an option and he still carried on working, always with the spirit of the wolf and pushing his teammates.
“I wish him all the best and I thank him for all the help and the work that he put in. A player that stays at a club for so many years must always be respected.
“We wish Jack the best with his new club and for the rest of his career.”
