John, who was fondly known as Foz, joined the club officially in 1999 but his affiliation with Wolverhampton Wanderers ran for over 50 years, having supported his local team from 15 years of age.
He was a larger than life character, much loved by everybody involved with Wolves and he will be dearly missed by all.
Speaking after the game, Nuno began the interview by dedicating his side’s three points to Foz.
He said, “Let me just say one thing - today is a day, o-k we have a game and we have won and we are happy but before the game we some terrible news that Foz had passed away.
“This game was dedicated to him and his memory. We send our condolences to his family and to all of the Wolves because one man that spends 25 years of years a the club deserves everything.
“This game, this victory and the work of the boys goes to him. It has been a moment that we had to stick together and the boys did that in the game, they showed us that they wanted to win.”
After dominating the first half but not finding the net, Nuno’s side showed their quality in the second half as Ruben Neves, Barry Douglas and Diogo Jota to seal the three points.
The win takes Wolves 12 points clear at the top of the Sky Bet Championship - having won 11 of their last 13 games.
Nuno felt that his side deserved the victory and praised his team’s character as Wolves now turn their attentions to Saturday’s Emirate’s FA Cup clash at home to Swansea City.
“After having two games away, it was so good to be back at Molineux and to have almost 30,000 people supporting us.
“I think we deserved it and now it is a moment to rest, to recover well and prepare for the cup - the next challenge is the cup.
“I think in the first half we had good chances but in the same moment, we knew that Brentford were a good team and defensively we really stuck to our tasks.
“Knowing in that moment we had to be humble to control the game.
“I think the attitude changed in the second half, I’m very pleased with that - it showed the character of a team that really wants to achieve game by game and a victory after another victory. It’s growing and I’m happy with that.
“Today was important because of the cycle - we had four games in this Christmas period, it’s so tough for the players and the way they managed themselves game after game - that’s a team supporting each other. Well done to them!”
