Conor Coady believes that a win in the FA cup this weekend, could see Wolves go on a good run of form in the league. Wolves make the short trip up the M6 to Premier League Stoke City (3pm) in the FA cup 3rd round on Saturday. Coady also thinks his team should have got more from the games against Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday but there were plenty of positives to take going into Saturday’s game.
"We played QPR and Sheffield Wednesday and we played probably as well as we have done all season and come away with just 1 point.” Coady says.
"It’s disappointing from our point of view but its not as if we’re going into those games and not creating any chances and not putting balls in the right areas.
"We’ve got a bit of momentum at the minute and the boys seem full of confidence.
"I think it’s one where we just need to keep on going, the results will come as long as we’re playing that type of football for us now, we’re trying to put the gaffers' ideas on to the pitch and hopefully it will bring some more good results.
"It’s disappointing to come away with only one point from the two games, we should never have lost the QPR game and I thought we were the better team against Sheffield Wednesday.
"Sheffield Wednesday is one of the toughest places in the league to go away from home and to play the way we did was very encouraging from our point of view.
"I think it’s about us keeping that going now, we can’t die off from doing that, starting this weekend at Stoke."
The midfielder who has been playing at right back over recent weeks, was part of the Sheffield United side that reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 2014. He says that a win in the cup against a team from a higher division could improve results in the league.
"It’s a fantastic competition, one that I have grown up watching, it’s one I really enjoy.” Cody explains.
"I had a really good run when I was at Sheffield United a few years ago, it does everything for your season a good cup run.
“It’s exciting for the fans and exciting within the football club so hopefully we can.
“To win (against Stoke) would be magic if we could do that, for us it’s just about keeping momentum going.
"We’ve started putting in some good performances over the last few weeks and we want to keep that going this weekend.
"It’s just about going into every game believing that you can win that football match, we’ve got a football club full of talented boys and quality players who can go and hurt teams.
"That’s what we all believe at the minute whether it’s Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke or QPR we’re always believing that we can go into that game and win it.
"I feel like the last two games we should have won the games so for us it’s something we are really looking forward to on Saturday and one we believe we can go and win"
Wolves have sold out their allocation of 4,500 for the trip to Stoke. Coady reveals that a huge following away from home can give the team an extra boost.
"It’s everything for this football club.” he says.
"We know what it’s like to go to away games now and have two, three, four thousand wolves fans behind us, it makes a massive difference to the boys when you can hear them singing and supporting you.
"You can see sometimes in the second half it’s very special for the boys and it really spurs us on.”
