Wolves head into the weekend’s fixture on the back of a 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, a game that lasted for 120 minutes as the sides couldn’t be separated in normal time.
When asked how his squad were faring ahead of the Barnsley clash, Nuno replied: “Fortunately there are no injuries, everybody’s fit.
“The players that played for 120 minutes take a longer time to recover and some players are still coming back.
“When a player runs for 15km in a 120-minute game, you must respect this and know that the body needs time to recover.
“We will manage all of the situations but, one thing is for sure, we are ready for the game.
“Confidence comes from how you play and how you perform in a game.
“This is the confidence that you must acquire, after that comes the result.
“The table comes last because that doesn’t mean anything now.
“You must look at the game before and then the next game because that becomes the most important thing
“The way we play, the way we perform, the players are able to make a better performance and have a better understanding of the idea that we want.
“Growing gives you confidence, knowing that the next day you can do something new and something better.”
Preparation is key in Nuno’s philosophy and the Head Coach is well aware that both teams heading into a league fixture go through extensive preparation.
“Like us, every club and their technical staff has a lot of information.
“You must always look at your opponent, you must respect and know the strengths and abilities.
“You must take a really good look and then transmit this information to the players.
“Everybody does it. We know that people will be watching us and that’s why we have to make ourselves better and grow.
“We have to have creativity amongst ourselves to unblock these situations that can happen during a game.
“It’s never a finished project. Each game is a new challenge where new things will happen.
“I’m never totally pleased. I’m happy with how the boys are doing but, at the same time, we know that there’s a long way to go and a lot to improve on.”
It was announced on Friday that Conor Coady has signed a new four-year contract at the club and the Head Coach explained that the 24-year-old’s deal is fully deserved.
“It’s important for everybody,” he explained before adding: “That’s the way we see things.
“Since we started, players that are with us are really enjoying the work and Conor is one of those.
“From day one he’s been a top professional, always 100 per cent in each moment of his work so it’s well deserved.”
