Nuno opened the doors of the Compton Park training ground yesterday, and all 500 tickets were snapped up as fans enjoyed a first look at the new Head Coach and his staff putting the squad through their paces before they depart for pre-season in Austria on Monday.
Speaking afterwards, and confirming the club are close to securing a deal for Porto’s highly-rated midfielder Ruben Neves, Nuno says these first few weeks are all about preparation with the new season now just over a month away.
“I am looking forward to the season but at the moment it is about preparing well for the competition,” he said.
“Not thinking about the competition itself, but preparing well and being ready to start on August 5th.
“First of all it's hard when you want to build something – you have to look, to have patience and be persistent on our ideas.
"This is the training we do. It's all about the ball – players sometimes are not so used to always being in contact with the ball from day one.
"But this is our idea, that we want to build a team that's capable of building good football."
"This is our responsibility here on the pitch, to work well and prepare the team to win.
"Of course since Fosun came to the club a new life came to Wolverhampton. All my life is made of challenges, all the clubs I've been (at) were made of challenges."
Further new faces are expected to add to the signings already snapped up – Ryan Bennett, Roderick Miranda, Phil Ofusu-Ayeh and Barry Douglas.
Nuno believes they will all adapt to life in the Championship, aided and abetted by the experience already within the Wolves squad.
"I think they'll get along very well," he said.
"We have new players here and one thing we always think of is that for a player to come he has to improve the squad, to improve what we have.
“They will bring better and different things that we can take advantage of.
"In terms of football it's global, so I think they'll do very good.
"It is a good group here – the dynamic of the group is good and the players that are already here, that's a big help.
"It's a squad capable of good work and they are working well.
“It is very hard sessions every day, a lot of physical training. “This is the moment to work and work well – that is our focus.”
