Joe Gallen believes Wolves must continue to push for a positive end to the season – despite looking highly unlikely to be involved at the top or bottom of the table.
Wolves will kick off the final eight games by welcoming Ipswich Town to Molineux on Saturday (3pm), from a position 14 points off the play-off places and 11 above the relegation zone.
The Assistant Head Coach says focus must be maintained until the maths deem Wolves cannot make the play-offs, or are safe from relegation, and even then the intensity must be there to finish the season on a high.
"The thing with the season is that there’s still enough points mathematically to go sixth,” he says.
“And there are still enough points mathematically that we could lose to get relegated.
"So we’ve got everything to play for.
"And then once that’s been sorted either way I think that the season should look like the Burnley game – our performances have got to look like that.
"There’s a lot to play for really – the fans, ourselves, the players, and the pride of the club.
"We’ve got arguably some of our best attackers to come back.
"But if this is the group until the end of the season it’s up to them to grab hold of their opportunity and to play with that quality and pride that the fans and the club deserves.
"Burnley was one of the best performances of the season – but I don't think it'll be a one-off.
"We were very spirited, high in confidence and it was a good technical performance as well.
"The boys executed Kenny’s game plan very well and caused a lot of problems.
"It was very positive for the rest of the season."
