Helan Joins On Loan

Owls winger checks in

Wolves have signed Sheffield Wednesday’s Jeremy Helan on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old Frenchman, who can play left back or left midfield, has put pen to paper on the temporary deal and will today train with the squad for the first time ahead of Saturday’s visit of Derby County (12.30pm).

Helan has made 22 appearances for the promotion-chasing Owls so far this season, and came off the bench just before the hour mark when Wolves were beaten 4-1 at Hillsborough back in December.

In total he has made 140 appearances and scored four goals for Sheffield Wednesday since arriving on loan from Manchester City in 2012, a move which became permanent in the summer of 2013.

He initially joined the Elite Development squad with Manchester City in 2009, having been with the Clairefontaine Academy and then Rennes.

He only made one appearance with City, as an extra time substitute in a Capital One Cup defeat against Aston Villa in September, 2012.

Helan made a handful of appearances during loan spells with Carlisle United and Shrewsbury Town before bursting to prominence with Wednesday.

Discussing the arrival of Helan, Wolves boss Kenny Jackett said: “He’s an attacking player and has a lot of pace and power, which is something we need in either position. We're very pleased to add him.

“He gives us natural balance on the left side, we’ve had a considerable amount of injuries down there.

"He can play wide left or at left back. I think he’s capable of both and he’s comfortable in either depending on the system that you play."
