Kenny Jackett admitted it was another frustrating afternoon as Wolves were unable to break down Blackburn Rovers and registered a third successive Molineux goalless draw.
And the team were indebted to three superb saves from keeper Carl Ikeme – two late on – to take a point from the game and make it six unbeaten.
The Head Coach however admits it doesn’t really feel like six unbeaten and is looking for his team to do more going forward.
“I felt in the second half we had the beating of them and were on top of Blackburn with the majority of the ball,” said Jackett.
“We turned the ball over well in midfield and Coady and Price were excellent getting to the ball and recycling it wide.
“Our biggest threat was James Henry and the likes of Danny and Matt Doherty at the back were very good again.
“And Iorfa had some good situations using his pace to get on the outside of Henry but we couldn’t find the end product.
“Ultimately we couldn’t get into the one-v-one situations, or beat our player.
“So although we had a grip on the game we were never in the situation in the final third where we were in a situation where we could create something.
“Bright when he came on got into some very good positions down the side but ultimately he couldn’t get past the player to create the chance that we needed.
“When James did get the crosses in we didn’t exploit those situations enough, and ultimately it was a frustrating game.
“We are pleased with the clean sheet and Carl made two very good saves at the death, one in particular was outstanding.
“We need to be competitive at the back and certainly can’t complain about the midfielder’s performances which were very good but as a side and as a unit we didn’t do enough going forward.
“We do want to create and we do want to go forward.
“There was a good attitude of the players and again, if you can’t win you don’t lose.
“But ultimately it is three 0-0 draws on the trot at home which we don’t want and that is frustrating.
“Six games unbeaten is an achievement and a good thing but we do want more going forward and we do want to be able to take on defenders and exploit the one-v-one situations.
“And so it doesn’t really feel like a six game unbeaten run and it is a frustrating day for us.
“The boys at the back have battled well and been competitive but we didn’t look like scoring goals.
“We would like to be six unbeaten in different circumstances and with a different make-up but it does show there is a lot of spirit in the group.”
Jackett sent on young prospects Bright Enobakhare and Connor Hunte in the second half to add to an already youthful side.
And while keen to see how the young players develop, he acknowledges Wolves will need to do more if they are to compete more at the top end of the Sky Bet Championship.
“Bright has been in our youth team and Under-21s and Connor has been with the Under-21s,” he explained.
“It was good experience for them and now we will see how their careers develop.
“It is a positive to see a lot of young players out there but there has to be a balanced view because we have to create more than that at home.
“For all of us that is the bottom line.
“We are trying to work with the players that we have and develop some younger players and it will be interesting to see how they develop.
“Is it enough right now for us to compete in a very good Championship? Certainly not at the top end.
“Our equation is trying to develop players and work with the group that we have with quite a few injuries to forward players that have cost us.
“We are looking to do better with what we have because we have just had three 0-0 draws at home.
“Similarly though there is a good spirit among the players and we need to build on that and do better as a group.
“You can’t stand still as a club because other people will compete and go past you.”
