Foundation diary day 2 | Jack

Over the course of the next few months we are planning to bring you excerpts of a ‘Diary of a Season’, as told by the Wolves Foundation!

We are keeping in regular touch with four separate diarists with a connection to the Foundation, a mixture of staff and participants, to catch up with how they are doing and their contacts with Wolves’ official charity.

Today we have the first instalment from Jack Brown, who is a regular participant on the Foundation’s PL Kicks programme for young people.

JACK’S DIARY

Hi, I’m Jack, I’m 12-years-old and I go to Aldersley High School.

I am a big Wolves fan and have been going to games with my Mum (Heather) since I was two-years old!

I am really missing not being able to go to matches at the moment.  It is good to watch them on the television but the atmosphere just isn’t there.

I remember the atmosphere at what is my favourite game so far, the 3-2 win against Manchester City at the end of last year.

I always love seeing Wolves win after being behind, I don’t know what it is that happens but maybe Nuno gets really angry with them at half time and gets them going!

My favourite players are Raul Jimenez and Conor Coady, who plays in the same position as I do, and is captain as well.

I play in two different teams at weekends, for Wordsley Wasps in the MJPL (Midland Junior Premier League) on a Saturday, and Bilbrook North on a Sunday.

Football is what I love, in my spare time I always like doing down Aldersley with my mates kicking a ball around, and it is football that first got me to the Wolves Foundation.

We went to one of the Kicks sessions to play, and then started going regularly and not just playing football but other activities as well like music and spray painting.

From there I got involved in other Kicks activities, including going to a tournament at Aston Villa, and helping with the collection for Wolves Foundation at their focus game.

It also helped me during the first lockdown when we weren’t going to school, with the online activities giving me something to do.

I don’t like being stuck in the house, and like to take part in as many activities as I can, but when we couldn’t really do much it was good to get involved with Kicks online.

We had some FIFA competitions online – and I won a Taylor Perry Wolves shirt – and we also got the chance to speak to Wolves striker Niall Ennis.

He told us about how he went to Kicks when he was a youngster and it was really good to hear about his career so far.

He is a local lad as well which is good to see!

It gives all of us someone to try and follow and I know that when I grow up I’d really like to be involved in sport in some way, maybe as a physio if that’s possible.

I was definitely looking forward to Kicks being on all the time again when things were back to normal, but of course then it had to stop again due to the next lockdown.

At least during the second lockdown I was still able to go to school and watch Wolves on TV. Kicks went back to doing games on the PlayStation which I really enjoyed but I can’t wait be back there, playing for my football teams again and seeing my team-mates.
