The Mexican has put in tireless performances during the opening five Premier League games, but is without a goal for his efforts, after coming agonisingly close to ending that statistic in the second-half against Brentford. As his header, from an Adama Traore cross, dropped wide, it summed up a frustrating afternoon for Wolves, one which Jimenez is looking at in isolation after four good performances, and is hoping to put into the history books with a positive result at Southampton this weekend.
On the goals coming soon
“I’m there doing my job and want to score, and I hope the next game is going to be the one. I’d like to get on a run of scoring and they’re going to come.
“I remember [two years ago] scoring twice at Southampton and it was good, we were really good, and I want to remember that and do it again.”
On looking to bounce back
“One episode doesn’t take out everything that we have done before. We have to continue going, continue preparing for the game, going for the three points, for the victory, and we’ll continue as a team.
“We want our revenge [after Brentford], this is football, sometimes you play good, you play bad, but we are doing good things. We have done five games, we played good in four of them I think, so now we have to go there, play well and go for the win.”
On attention turning to Southampton
“We’re looking forward to it. We want to go there and do our job, our game, and have the points. We are still confident about winning games, we know we have the opportunity to keep improving and get our win.
“We have to finish the actions and get the goal. We have been creating many opportunities, but haven’t been able to score the goals, so we have to go in, to focus and to score.”
On getting a rest mid-week
“I want to play all the games, but in the end the coach is the one that decides, so it’s OK, I’m happy, doing my job, and I’ve had the opportunity to rest, so on Sunday I’m going to be ready.”

On morale remaining good in camp
“The atmosphere was really good, the supporters were there with us in all the moments, so we have to keep focused and do our job.
“We are still positive, we are in a good mood, obviously it’s hard after losing a game, but we have to keep our heads up and keep going.”
