Gibbs-White proud after big moment finally arrived

Morgan Gibbs-White had to wait a long time for a Premier League goal, 40 games to be specific, so when it arrived in game number 41, he was rightly ecstatic.

The midfielder left it until injury time to complete Wolves’ turnaround against Brighton & Hove Albion with a fine finish and his celebration said it all, sliding towards the corner flag, before being mobbed by his teammates. The winner was reward for a fine team performance after the break and saw Gibbs-White recover from missing a guilt-edge opportunity to fire an important winner.

On a fine comeback

“I thought the boys battled really well. I thought the first-half was quite tough, I thought Brighton played really well, and then I feel like after they got their red card it gave us a confidence boost to go on and keep the ball, have good possession of the ball, find little pockets and as you see in the combination of players how we scored our goals. I thought the boys did absolutely excellent today.”

On his first Premier League goal

“It’s about time it’s come. I missed the first sitter, and I was devastated, so for the second one I sort of composed myself, picked my spot of where I was going to hit the ball, and luckily enough it went in the back of the goal and gave the boys their three points which I’m delighted for.”

On Traore’s impact of the bench

“As soon as Adama comes on the pitch, he gives you confidence anyway, because of the ability he has and especially when he scored that goal.

“You know, we thought to ourselves, look we can go on and win this game now, and we kept going, we kept going, we didn’t stop and shown right to the end, we kept going and we got the three points which is just what we needed.”

On having fans back

“I can’t wait. It’s been a long hard season and a half without the fans. They deserve to be back here and I can’t wait for them to be back here, cheering us on and hopefully we can put in the performance in for them.”
