Doherty on Podence's impact

Matt Doherty with impressed with what he saw from Daniel Podence on his debut at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Wolves’ new signing made a cameo debut off the bench, playing the final 14 minutes and slotting into the system in place impressively. When on, Podence joined Doherty on the right-hand side and the Irishman is excited for what is to come from his new teammate.

On Podence’s debut

“He did really well. It’s tough, he’d only been here a couple of days, but he seemed to get up to the pace of it quite quickly. The way we play, he seemed to adapt quite well, which is a good sign for us.”

On a point at Old Trafford

“It was probably a fair result. I don’t think there was many clear-cut chances, where someone definitely should have scored – both teams huffed and puffed but lacked the final bit of quality in the final third.

“We’ve got to remember we’re away from home at Old Trafford, so you probably take a point before the game starts.”

On regular meetings with United

“Even last season we had them in the cup, we seem to play each other quite often, so we’ve come to terms with each other’s game plan.

“It was 0-0, but I don’t think it was a boring game, it was a good game to watch, but we cancelled each other out.”
