Nuno Espirito praised his team’s character as Wolves beat Reading 2-0 to regain top spot in the Sky Bet Championship.
Wolves took the lead midway through the first half as Diogo Jota played in Ivan Cavaleiro who rounded Vito Mannone and finished.
After enduring second half pressure from the hosts, Matt Doherty secured all three points for Wolves as his effort beat the Reading goalkeeper.
Nuno said it was a tough game for his side against a team who he says caused Wolves ‘lots of problems.’
He said, “It was a tough game - we played against a good team, a team who created a lot of chances and caused us lots of problems.
“It was a good performance and a good result. They made us defend - it was a difficult game so it is very good for us to get the three points.
“I think in the first half we controlled the game and we played well.
“The goal that we scored was a good goal and good combination - that’s what we’re looking for.
“In the second half, they kept pushing and John (Ruddy) did a good job.
“All of the team were organised well and we will take the three points for a good performance against a good team, a good team.
“Both sides could have been behind in the first half, both teams had chances - it was a good game of football.
“Teams are changing their shape to the way we’re playing but we have to find solutions to everything.
“We did that, we found good solutions today against Reading.”
Nuno was also thankful to the 3,873 strong travelling away support at the Madjeski Stadium on Saturday.
He was delighted with the support of the fans, something that he says provides spirit to his squad.
“I don’t have more words to say on how thankful we are to the fans - to come to a stadium so many hours away, in the cold and rain,” he said.
“You look to the stands and they are all ours, they’re all wolves!
“We are delighted with it and now we go back home knowing that we want that spirit of the wolves - the pack, everybody together.
“Thank you to everyone for coming!
“I think the boys did well, they were humble enough to recognise that in one moment of the game they were behind and suffering in defence - we had to stick together and this is what it’s all about.
“All of the bodies in front of the line of the ball, things that seemed impossible were made possible - this is character.
“In the other part of the pitch, when we had the chances we did it. It’s about performing well, achieving things and growing together - the team is growing.”
