Loan Wolf | Tommy Doyle Returns

Tommy Doyle’s return to the fore at Molineux this summer, following a temporary spell in the Championship last season, is documented in the latest Loan Wolf feature from Wolves Studios.

Out of favour under the previous regime, the midfielder spent the 2025/26 campaign at Birmingham City in the second tier but returned to Compton Park early in May in a bid to reintegrate at the club and hit the ground running for the start of this pre-season.

Filmed in the spring, ‘Loan Wolf | Tommy Doyle Returns’ features two sit-down interviews with the 24-year-old, as well as technical director Matt Jackson, reflecting on his time at St Andrew’s and early return to Wolverhampton, and looking ahead to what will be required from the Old Gold in the Championship.

Doyle spoke honestly about a tough personal situation under former head coach Vitor Pereira, before going into detail about his time at Birmingham, where he played 42 times and helped the club to a top ten finish, which represented progress, but not the play-off finish targeted.

The cameras then followed Doyle on his first day back, being reunited with staff and teammates and, speaking in the Wolves Museum, he discusses coming back early and his desire to make up for lost time at Molineux.

Doyle became a father for the first time over the summer, and his personal life is covered from Medicine Bakery in Codsall, while the midfielder, who has won promotion from the Championship previously, explains exactly what is required to be successful in the second tier.

Doyle said: “There’ll be a real excitement about the place, we’ll be ready to go and the standards will be high. We’ll really push each other in the right manner. I know what’s required and that will heighten when we go into the Championship – there’ll be a lot of expectation and it’s on us to enjoy that and embrace the pressure.”

Jackson said: “Tommy’s always been a top professional who loves playing, which is always a great starting point. He just wants to be involved and with his attributes he’s quite unique in our squad, with his passing range, and he has a real chance for us to build the squad around him.”
