Sasa Kalajdzic’s time with LASK saw him return to both fitness and form, and fire the Austrian club to the league and cup double, and Wolves Studios’ latest Loan Wolf feature documents his success.
The 28-year-old has endured a luckless period since joining Wolves in 2022, suffering two serious knee injuries, so at the start of the 2025/26 campaign returned to his home nation on loan to regain fitness on the pitch, but more importantly a feeling of happiness within.
In truth, the loan couldn’t have gone much better. Individually, the striker played 27 times – his most since 2020/21 – and was directly involved in 18 goals, as he grew into a key player, often operating in a slightly deeper role to usual.
It also proved hugely successful for LASK, who ended a 61-year wait for a trophy by lifting the Austrian Cup – with Kalajdzic assisting twice in the final – and being crowned Austrian Bundesliga champions for the first time since 1965.
As the season reached its conclusion, with the Austrian Cup in the bag and the title charge on, Wolves Studios visited Kalajdzic in Linz for an in-depth interview following their 3-1 win over Rapid Wien.
The mini documentary begins with Kalajdzic discussing being back in Austria with his young family, before he goes into detail about trusting his body once again and his growth in confidence compared to last pre-season with Wolves.
Naturally, the striker also discusses LASK’s titles, the feeling of being an important player and how he found an important role in their system and dressing room.
Since filming, the striker was named in Austria’s World Cup squad and started in their opening day win over Jordan, and he finishes the piece by discussing the national team and what the future may hold at Wolves after that.
On Loan Wolf, Kalajdzic said: “The most important thing was stability and health, and joy and happiness. When I do my job with love and happiness, I’m able to perform, and do what I can do, which is play football. Week by week I’m getting stronger and you can see that on the pitch with the performances.
“It made the most sense in my situation to regain fitness and confidence, and it was the best decision to do it at home. It was the right step to get my body stable and I’m feeling really happy and comfortable. That was the plan and I’m really proud that I was able to manage it. The only thing I know is this loan has been very successful.”
