Mario Lemina and Tammi George’s impressive seasons in gold and black have been honoured with the pair voted as Wolves’ Supporters’ Player of the Season for the men’s and women’s first-teams.
There were also prizes for Nelson Semedo, Pablo Sarabia, Katie Johnson and Beth Merrick as the achievements of both teams were celebrated on the Molineux turf after Wolves’ final home Premier League fixture of the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Ahead of the players undertaking a lap of appreciation around the pitch, the End of Season Awards were presented, with eight prizes handed out in front of supporters – including four awards voted for by fans on wolves.co.uk.
Supporters voted for Lemina as their men’s Player of the Season following his first full campaign for the Old Gold as the Gabon international enjoyed one of the best years of his career in the centre of the Wolves midfield.
After playing a pivotal role in helping to keep Wolves up last season, he has excelled in the current campaign – at both ends of the pitch. As well as being one of the best in the Premier League for tackles, Lemina also produced the best goalscoring season of his career, while showing his versatility in stepping up to cover for his injured teammates in a variety of positions.
For the first time since 2018/19, the fans and players were divided on who should win Players’ Player of the Season and it was Semedo who received the accolades from his teammates, with the full-back picking up the gong having arguably produced his most consistent campaigns at Molineux.
The Portuguese has started all but two Premier League matches this season – due to suspension and injury – and has shown the reason why Wolves made the 30-year-old their then-record signing when he joined from Barcelona four years ago, while scoring a vital goal in the FA Cup third round replay at home to Brentford.
Supporters also had the chance to vote for the men’s Goal of the Season award, with the close-run contest seeing Sarabia’s incredible control and volleyed effort against Tottenham Hotspur coming out on top.
The former Real Madrid and PSG forward overcame the challenge of Matheus Cunha and his stunning solo effort against Nottingham Forest to claim the award with 39 per cent of the public vote. Bringing a fizzed Cunha cross under his control with a brilliant first touch, the second – with his opposite foot – saw the ball fire into the net, to set Wolves on their way to a late come-from-behind victory.
