Wolves Weekly | O'Neil talks VAR, philosophy and the 'Wolves family'

Gary O'Neil joins Mikey Burrows in a special episode of Wolves Weekly as the head coach goes in depth into his first few months in charge of the Old Gold.

Following his side's 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday, where another controversial decision went against his team, O'Neil reveals he had an open conversation with the head of PGMOL Howard Webb on Sunday, and divulges what the referee chief has admitted to.

The head coach also speaks about the family culture which has been instilled at the club, how the staff and players at the club have taken him in as one of their own, and how his own family have 'brought all in' to Wolves since his arrival.

He said: "I hope the fact that me and the staff are good people and everyone around there can see that, yeah, I am managing the football team, but if you come and have a chat with me I'm just a normal person who wants to know how you are, wants to know how your nan is, wants to know what you did at the weekend.

"There's a really good vibe inside the training ground that we're looking to build on as we progress the squad, and culture is a really important factor for us."

O'Neil discusses a range of topics with Burrows, including how he has to compose himself quickly after full-time to give an honest assessment in his post-match interviews, needing to earn time as a manager and his relationship and the 'unbelievable' support he has received from sporting director Matt Hobbs.

He also reflects on the uncertainty in the club and from supporters when he first arrived at Wolves and how the group have tried to bring 'hope and belief' back to Molineux.

Wolves Weekly is available to listen to on all podcast providers. There is also a host of official and exclusive gold and black content to be found on Wolves Radio, including Matchday Live Extra and Wolves Express.
