Established in 1983, Halfpenny Green Vineyard are one of the pioneers of English wine renaissance and have been investing in and producing award-winning wines ever since.
Their blend of tradition innovation and passion has led to the growing and production of some half a million bottles a year making the wine estate one of the largest producers and bottlers in the UK.
Now, Wolves have joined forced with Halfpenny, who have selected three of their best-selling wines – two still wins, red and white, and a delicious sparkling wine.
The limited-edition red is fruit-driven and approachable, with aromas of plum, violet, and sweet spices. A complex red blend, Rondo offers a well-rounded body and soft tannins, whilst Pinot Noir delivers notes of blackcurrant, plum, and forest fruits, giving way to a smooth, generous finish. The red pairs well with medium cheeses, lamb, and game dishes, but is just as good by itself.
The white is pale gold in colour, with aromas of lemon, pear, and herbal notes. An easy-going, medium-dry white blend, with Huxelrebe giving a soft, well-rounded body, and Madeleine Angevine offering notes of citrus, peach, and fresh-cut grass. It works at its best as an aperitif, but will pair well with white meats or vegetable-based dishes.
Finally, the limited-edition brut sparkling is a classic blend of English varieties, showing a pale gold colour in the glass, with a delicate mousse, and fine, free-flowing bubbles. Pinot Noir brings in elegant characters and mouthfeel, whilst Chardonnay adds delicate apple and lemon flavours, and Seyval Blanc keeps the blend crisp and exciting.
Over 18 months of bottle age adds developed brioche and hazelnut characters to create a rich and complex wine. Perfect for all occasions, but pairs brilliantly with oysters, crab, or fish and chips.
