Wolves supporter clubs from across the globe have been sharing their fascinating stories as part of a brand-new series exclusive to Wolves Radio.
Hosted by Wolves TV presenter Gemma Frith and club commentator Mikey Burrows, the pair have been speaking to Worldwide Wolves supporter groups far and wide about the experiences of being a gold and black fan away from the West Midlands.
The first three episodes are now available to listen to via the Wolves App, and include in-depth chats with members from Wolves Malaysia, Wolves New York and Wolves Ireland.
Frith said: “It’s been really fascinating for me and Mikey to hear the fantastic stories about how people from all corners of the world became Wolves fans, why they started their own supporter clubs and how they celebrate and watch matches together in their local cities.
“We’ve heard some great tales so far, including CP from Wolves Malaysia who started his own unofficial ‘Feed Our Pack’ during the pandemic to help support local food banks in Malaysia, while Dave of Wolves New York organised a viewing party at the Fosun Plaza in New York called ‘Fosunday’.
“They had a great turn out of Wolves supporters for that event, and he also told us about how – pre-covid – they used to fly all across the US to meet up with other Wolves supporter clubs and watch the games together.”
The most recent episode features Wolves Ireland, as Frith and Burrows chat to season ticket holder Tony, who, along with members of his supporter club, take day trips over to Wolverhampton for every game, flying out from Dublin in the early hours and returning late at night.
“There is still plenty to come in future episodes,” Frith added, “including a great chat with Wolves Houston where we speak to ex-pat and lifelong Wolves supporter Paul as well as Texas local and more recent supporter Josh about their love for the club and different memories and experiences as fans.”
New episodes will be released weekly ahead of the 2021/22 season, with each one dedicated to a different Worldwide Wolves supporter club. Episodes will also be played on the 24/7 Wolves Radio steam.
