Midfielder Tom Edozie is ‘feeling good’ following his recent goal scoring exploits for both the under-18s and under-21s.
The youngster has netted in each of his last three games, including one on his under-21s debut – the second in a 2-0 Premier League Cup victory at Charlton Athletic. Edozie was also on target in the U17 PL Cup quarter-final success versus Leicester City, while he scored for the under-18s in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Sunderland. Speaking on his recent form, Edozie says he has appreciated the opportunities he’s been given, how he’s been working on his game and the ‘proud’ feeling of scoring on his U21 bow.
On his recent form
“It’s been really good. I’ve been playing a lot of minutes and I’m thankful to the coach (Richard Walker) for helping me do that.
“I’m glad to be helping the team by scoring goals so I’m feeling good at the moment.”

On working on his game and scoring goals
“Last season I was struggling a bit, but there are coaches at the club who can help me with that. I’ve just tried to do some work and thankfully it’s paid off.
“I love shooting and when I connect with the ball I can get a lot of power on it. If I can get it on target, then I think it’s very hard for the goalkeeper to save.
“I enjoy watching them back on Hudl and I like to think I can come up with those moments – that’s what helps players get to the top, having that bit extra.
“If I keep working hard and doing what I’m doing then I can help the team by doing my stuff.”
On scoring on his under-21 debut
“It was amazing, especially being my debut as well. I waited for the opportunity and I was glad I took it. I’m proud of myself for doing that as well.
“James (Collins) gave me a lot of reassurance so I didn’t have to worry about being nervous or making mistakes which is very helpful.
“No matter if I’m with the 18s or 21s, I just try to give my best. If I’m with the 18s, I can try and use the experience from the 21s to help the 18s.”

On looking ahead
“We’ve just come back from a 3-0 win against Sunderland so we just need to continue what we’re doing and hopefully get a result at Blackburn.
“Everyone’s also excited for the Premier League Cup semi-final because you get that buzz for a semi-final.
“We’re just trying to focus game-by-game but when that time comes, everyone’s going to be ready for it.”
