Wolves Women open their Barclays WSL 2 home campaign on Sunday as they take on Sheffield United at the SEAH Stadium, looking to build on the positives from last week's season opener.
Despite defeat to highly fancied Newcastle United in Gateshead last weekend, Dan McNamara was pleased with aspects of his side's game and hopes they can use them as a springboard against a Sheffield United side also looking to avenge an opening day loss.
Coincidentally, Wolves and Sheffield United's men's team face off too on Sunday, with Cesar Peixoto's men facing the Blades at Bramall Lane. Back in the West Midlands, all eyes will be on the Old Gold as McNamara's team, filled with 11 new summer signings with plenty of WSL prowess, hope to pick up their first three points as a professional outfit.
The Opposition
After an 11th placed finish last season - and a reprieve from relegation the season prior - the Blades are a side looking up in WSL 2 and are hopeful of a stronger season in 2026/27. With last season's second-top scorer in the division, Amy Andrews up top and the signing of attacking Ava Baker from Birmingham City on deadline day, Sheffield United's have displayed their ambition.

Managed by former MK Dons men and West Ham women coach Stephen Healy, the Blades' pre-season schedule included tests against WSL side Liverpool and third tier sides Stoke City and Hull City.
