Brooks | 'We got what we deserved'

Goalkeeper Alex Brooks was delighted as Wolves Women secured promotion to WSL 2 following a 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

Brooks put in a player of the match performance to help her side to the second tier, making a number of outstanding saves to maintain her clean sheet.

She touched on what promotion means, the importance of getting over the line and how the unity amongst the squad helped her to settle in at Wolves

On the promotion to WSL 2

“[It sounds] amazing. I feel like we've worked really hard all season, and today it's pulled off and we've got what we deserved.

“I think, obviously, coming down to tier three was a big difference for me, especially at a club like Wolves. I didn’t really have much to do for most of the season, so to be able to go out there today and actually prove my part was nice.”

On getting over the line

“We did [get over the line]. In big games, you can lose concentration, get a little bit too desperate, but I think we handled it really well, and that’s what got us over the line.

“Obviously, it means a lot more to them, but coming here in the summer, and the way the club feels and [what] I felt when I walked into the club [was] yeah, it's home.”

On the unity amongst the squad

“I think he's been the same all season. When I first got here and I walked into the changing room, the feel that this team brings, it's, yeah, it's a real togetherness that I've not really experienced anywhere else, not as tight anyway.

“I'd rather have been bored than have stuff to do, but they made me work today. So, as I said earlier, earning my part and showing my work, and being involved in this makes it feel a bit more special.”
