Sophie Bramford was ‘buzzing’ after scoring a Goal of the Season contender against Halifax on Sunday.
The Wolves Women midfielder came off the bench and struck twice in the Old Gold’s 5-1 victory at the New Bucks Head, and Bramford is delighted with how the team are putting together a run of results and gaining momentum.
On taking all three points
“I’m absolutely delighted. We knew going into the game it was going to be a difficult game and we had to deliver the game plan.
“My role was inevitably to come on and do what I could, and I think I did that so I’m buzzing.”
On her incredible goal
“Funnily enough, the last thing Macca (Dan McNamara) said to me before I came on was that if I get any opportunities on the edge of the box, have a crack – that’s what I did.
“When I scored, I looked over to him and gave him a little thumbs up. It was great.”

On whether there’s any stopping the team at the moment
“There’s absolutely not. I love the fact there’s such a variety of goal scorers. We’ve got great people who can come off the bench, score and impact the game.
“Towards the end of the season everyone is coming in and is on form, so it’s great.”
On having a strong end to the season
“The season’s come around so quick. I can’t believe we’re even saying that we’ve only got a few games left.
“It’s great to have a good run in of games because we’ve had quite a lot cancelled and postponed.
“Now we’ve got a bit of rhythm, we’ve managed to get three wins on the bounce (this week) and we’ve got loads of confidence going into the final games.”
