Jefferies delighted with debut goal

Lois Jefferies made the perfect start to her Wolves Women career with a two-goal debut in Sunday’s 3-1 win against Lincoln City on the opening day of the National League Division 1 Midlands season.

The 21-year-old striker levelled the scores after Wolves had gone behind and then, after strike partner Jamila Palmer had found the net, Jefferies doubled her tally with a well-deserved victory clincher.

On getting the goal

“I’m very happy to get off the mark so quickly.

“If you go four or five games without scoring you might start to doubt yourself, so it was great to make a useful contribution to a good win”

On the performance

“The first half was a bit frustrating, especially conceding an early goal from a set-piece.

“However, we were always confident of bouncing back and in the end we could have won by another goal or two.”
