Keen to get back out there

Ladies set for Solihull after fortnight without fixture

Wolves Women are itching to get their boots back on this Sunday after two weeks without a game.

Their top of the table clash against Loughborough Foxes on 26th February was postponed due to an unplayable pitch at Hednesford Town, and they didn’t have a game last Sunday.

They’ll be champing at the bit this Sunday (March 12th) when they get back to league action away to tenth-placed Solihull Ladies at Hampton FC,Field Lane, Solihull, B91 2RT. Kick off is 2.30pm.

Then the following Sunday it’s back to Hednesford Town FC for the Birmingham County Cup Semi-Final against Coventry United. The County Cup competition is contended by all women’s clubs affiliated to Birmingham County FA.

Coventry have an impressive history in the County Cup, having won the competition in 2012, 2013 and 2014, but last season they were beaten in the final by West Bromwich Albion. This season sees Albion pitched against Gornal Ladies in the other Semi-Final.

It is ten years since Wolves reached the final when they succumbed 4-3 to Birmingham City Ladies after extra time. They were last champions in 2000, beating Stratford Ladies 7-0, so a place in the final is long overdue.

The players will be hoping for plenty of home support from Wolves fans for the semi-final. The game will be played on Sunday 19th March at Hednesford Town FC with a 2.30pm kick-off. Admission is £2; concessions £1.
