Tsun Dai completes Wolves move

Wolves have completed the signing of Hong Kong midfielder Tsun Dai from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old, who has agreed a two-year-deal with the option of a further 12 months, has experience of playing in the EFL with Bury and joins the under-23s ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Dai first moved to the UK in 2012, after progressing through the Eastern Sports Club and Kitchee Academy systems in Hong Kong.

Following four seasons developing at Reading, the midfielder moved to Bury where made nine League One appearances and scored against Fleetwood Town in the Checkatrade Trophy.

In the summer of 2018, Dai earned a move to Oxford, but after struggling for opportunities, spent the second half of the campaign on loan at FC Utrecht, playing 12 times.

Dai has now linked up with Rob Edwards’ squad and will travel with the group to Spain for a pre-season training camp this weekend.

Edwards is pleased with the first impressions shown by the new signing. “Dai arrived here at the start of the month and has already settled into the group well. He’s a midfield player who wants to try and get on the ball and he’s got lots of energy.

“He’s got a good personality and will get an opportunity, like all of our players in the under-23s, to show what he can do.

“We need to see more of him, as we do with all of our summer signings, because our levels are going to go up this season, especially if we want to close the gap to the first-team.

“We’ve got to get to know him, but he’s got to get to know us, get to know the way we work, how we do things. So far, he’s made a good first impression.”
