Cesar Peixoto has called on his side to become “main characters” in matches, which he believes will help kill teams off at crucial points in games.
Last time out against Watford the head coach saw his players learn their lesson from letting two points slip late on against Portsmouth, but would have liked the margin of victory to be more comfortable.
In-form Cardiff City are next up at Molineux on Saturday and Peixoto, who has Fer Lopez and Rodrigo Gomes back available, wants to see his group rise to the occasion again and make it 10 points from 12.
On Cardiff up next
“It’s a difficult game for us, like all the games in the Championship. At home, we have to be the main characters. We want to win the three points. We have to be ready to fight, try to play better than we have been playing, continue winning games and get another three points.”
On his 12-game assessment
“We’re not in a perfect position, but I think we’re doing well. We could have three or four more points, maybe. We can play better, I want the team to play better, that’s true, but I think we’re on the right road. We’re competitive. Some games we play well, and in others we don’t play like we want.
“We’re winning games and we’re fourth in the table. It’s a good position, only two points from second place and the automatic promotion positions. If you look at this stage of the season, I think we’re in a good position. We’re working well. Yes, we can do better, but I think we’re doing a good job.”

On imposing themselves on games
“In the last game, we were the main characters. Only three or four times in the second half, after corners, our defensive balance wasn’t right. There were two situations like that, and one free-kick on the edge of the box. Apart from that, we controlled the whole game.
“We have to be more clinical. If we score more goals, for sure people look at the game in a different way. But if you want to win games and get promoted, you have to try to play well, win and be the main characters. That’s our style. I don’t look at games in any other way.”
On the injuries lifting
“Rodrigo is better and is back with us. Nasser is better, but he’s not at 100 per cent. We’re not going to take risks with him. I think he’ll be back training with us next week.
“The others are improving too. Bouba and Bertrand are back training with us, but they’re not at 100 per cent. They’ll need more time before they’re ready to play. But they’re getting better.”

On the nature of the injuries
“Muscular injuries, we’ve had only three. The other eight have been contact injuries. It’s something we can’t control in football. We have had eight injuries that haven’t come from training loads, poor management or the way we play.
“I think having only three muscular injuries at this stage, with so many games, is fantastic. But we’ve been unlucky with these contact injuries, and we’ve had to manage the team around them.
“We use sports science, the medical department, GPS and all the information available to us. But I can’t imagine a football game without contact. In England, and especially in the Championship, there’s even more contact. These kinds of injuries are going to happen, for sure. Unfortunately, they’ve happened more to us at the moment.”
